 CHAPS 40th Annual Meeting
(and Tour!)

November 11, 2023

On November 11, 2023, CHAPS will celebrate 40 years with its 2023 Annual Meeting. The meeting will start with a tour of the historic Second National Bank Building in Downtown Hamilton. Located at 219 High Street, the Art Deco landmark building was erected in 1931. The architects were Weary and Alford of Chicago, with local architect George Barkman assisting.

The Second National Bank building was most recently occupied by US Bank, which sold the building to Hamilton’s Community Improvement Corporation in late 2021. COHatch, an event space and co-working provider, was awarded Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credits in 2022 towards rehabilitation of the building into co-working and restaurant space. Tim Mescher of COHatch will provide the tour beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the front entrance.

Following the tour, attendees are invited to the brief meeting and lunch at Neal’s Famous Barbeque (202 N. Third Street). Attendees may order off the menu and pay individually. To attend the tour, a $10 donation is requested and can be paid at the door. Please register in advance by emailing butlerchaps@gmail.com by 5:00 p.m. on Nov. 9. A small number of walk-ups may be accommodated.

Hueston House Advocacy

CHAPS is working to document public support for saving the historic Hueston Home located in the Antenen Preserve/Four Rivers Metropark in St. Clair Township. The historic home was rehabilitated by CHAPS founder Ann Antenen and is now controlled by Butler County Metroparks.

To document public support, CHAPS created an online petition. We encourage you to read the petition and sign here: https://chng.it/S5tzdRmHC7
